Zamparelli Dominates at Silverstone to Extend Championship Lead

Dino Zamparelli took another step forward in his quest to take the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship title, by qualifying on pole and dominating the first race at Silverstone over the weekend. He backed this up with a 5th place and solid points in race 2’s ‘reverse grid’ race, to take an 8 point margin over his title rival Tio Ellinas, going into the final rounds at Brands Hatch in a fortnight.

When I was 19 years old, I posted an on-board video clip of me driving at Spa in the rain, in a Formula 2 racing car. It was about 30 seconds long and had one vital moment in it which made it a viral video. About a week after posting, it had been shared, and shared and shared. To the point where online papers, online racing magazines and popular social media accounts were all sharing the video. Famous other drivers were giving their comments and mostly admiring the reaction speed I showed. But the question that always gets asked is, was it luck, or was it skill?

Dino Zamparelli claimed a superb race one victory in his Nationwide Crash Repairs-backed Porsche to regain the championship lead from rival Tio Ellinas. Having competed over 100 laps of the 2.969 mile Snetterton circuit during testing on Wednesday he went into the weekend feeling confident after the traditional mid-season break.

Dino Zamparelli became the first double winner of the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, taking victory at the theatre of speed, Autodromo di Monza in Italy. The Bristolian then went on to maintain his 100% podium run at Monza by taking second place in race 2, having almost won from 6th place on the grid.
